4/2/2024 0 Comments Arisaka type 38 carbine sightAlthough total production is unknown, it is estimated that approximately 100,000 were converted. There is no consistency to serial numbers or arsenal marks as the rifles were converted from existing stock. The end result is a Type 38 which is similar in size to the Arisaka Type 99 short rifle. The observed serial number range is 2021802 to 2031433 with a production run of only about 6000 rifles. The serial number range for the Nagoya '0' series Type 38 begins in the 2 million range. Vaughn, Please recheck the s/n or series of your rifle. What I find interesting is that so many people consider them to be of low quality or to be. Does anyone know what dates the Series 22 serial numbers were used? The Japanese Arisaka Type 38 and 99 rifles are among the best bolt action rifles fielded during WWII. So far I have determined it is a Series 22, SN 48113 manufactured in the Koishikawa or Kokura arsenal. I have a 6.5mm Arisaka Type 38 rifle and was trying to narrow down the date of manufacture.
